DDR-1, also known as DDR (Dual Data Rate) was a revolution in DRAM technology. It doubled the bandwidth, and improved performance of SDR SDRAM technology. DDR enables transfer of data on both rising and falling edges of a clock signal. DDR still continues to be ideal choice for many new designs, we foresee its use and thus would provide support for as long as possible.
DDR SDRAM technology uses double data rate architecture to achieve high-speed
operation.It is a 2n-prefetch
architecture which can transfer two data words per clock cycle at the
input-output pins. It also consumes
less power at 2.5v as compared to its predecessor SDR SDRAM which requires 3.3v.
Long-DIMM (or Desktop RAM) comprises of 184 connector pins, whereas SO-DIMM
(Laptop RAM) comprises of 200 connector pins. It typically has a Fast data transfer rates: PC2100 (266MT/s), PC2700
(333MT/s), or PC3200 (400MT/s).
